On Saturday, October 5, an important campaign meeting took place at the prestigious Barsey by Warwick Hotel, located on the famous Avenue Louise in Brussels. The meeting was organized by the liberal candidate number 32 Manel Msalmi with the candidate of Mayorship David Weytsman for the liberal party .The event provided a unique opportunity for Brussels citizens to meet their future leaders and learn about the plans and vision of the candidates for the upcoming municipal elections.
David Weytsman – The future mayor

Manel Msalmi – The force behind gender equality and human rights
As president of the women’s section of MR Brussels, candidate number 32 on the municipal elections list, Manel Msalmi is a prominent figure on the international scene. Manel Msalmi brings impressive experience to the table. Her commitment to gender equality, human rights, and international cooperation was emphasized during the meeting.
Manel Msalmi has vast experience as a researcher in international relations and environmental humanities. She is a blogger on the MENA region for several international newspapers and participates in educational projects against extremism and anti-Semitism in Belgium and the European Union. She also collaborates with UNESCO and is an expert on MENA and South Asia issues within European institutions. Her involvement in the international community is reflected in her fight against injustices, making her an iconic figure in this campaign.
Furthermore, Manel Msalmi is the founder and president of the European Association for the Defense of Minorities. She is also a Respectzone ambassador and a peace ambassador for Elnet France. In 2018, she received a prestigious human rights award in Belgium.
With her extensive experience and passion for justice, Manel Msalmi highlighted her desire to play a leading role in improving the daily lives of Brussels citizens, with a special focus on minorities and vulnerable groups. “I believe in a city where everyone, regardless of his /her origin or religion is treated fairly, and where we work together to fight extremism and division,” she stated.
